Affordable trips could persuade more people to take the bus

Gothenburg, Jönköping, and Stockholm appear to be the most popular destinations. However, passengers flock FlixBus' international lines to Oslo, Berlin, and Hamburg. FlixBus hopes their low-cost journeys will encourage more people to leave their cars at home and ride the bus or train.

"Normally, the number of passengers drops after the summer, but this year, travel has remained strong into the autumn. Numerous destinations have more than doubled their bookings compared to the previous year. Bus traffic has increased dramatically in Gothenburg and Jönköping, for example. Many people fly home to see family, but we're also seeing a rise in weekend visitors to important cities like Stockholm, Oslo, and Berlin," according to Kajsa Ekelund, head of communications at FlixBus.

FlixBus believes that high gasoline prices and inflation are why more people prefer to travel by bus and train. Earlier this autumn, FlixBus/FlixTrain ran a price campaign that increased ticket sales.

"We provided bus and rail tickets starting at $4.45. The campaign's goal was to encourage more people to use public transportation. Even as everything in society becomes more expensive, our bus and rail rides remain a reasonably reasonable option. Furthermore, public transportation benefits the ecology," according to Kajsa Ekelund.

FlixBus advises weekly departures if you want to travel more leisurely. The bus company advises passengers flying to arrive early on the routes to Landvetter and Arlanda Airports because there may be heavy traffic on the highways.
