The new Puma ST Powershift is Ford's newest addition to the performance car lineup. It has a mild-hybrid system powered by 48 volts, which allows for greater potential and produces 170 horsepower and 248 Nm of torque at peak performance. It has a 1.0-liter engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters for manual gear selection.
Many honors have been given to the 1.0 liter Ford EcoBoost engine, but the Ford Puma ST Powershift is the most powerful variant. The lithium-ion battery can be recharged more quickly because of the mild-hybrid system's accelerated activation of energy recovery compared to previous iterations. So, compared to the 155 HP version of the 1.0 EcoBoost engine, the propulsion system provides a 10% boost in maximum power.
Like other Ford Performance vehicles, the Ford Puma ST Powershift provides thrilling acceleration (0-100 km/h in 7.4 seconds) and impressive fuel economy (6.3 l/100 km, 144 g/km CO2) for a midsize SUV. The new Powershift model borrows the Puma ST 1.5 EcoBoost 1.3's transmission, engine, and all of its performance tuning.
The dynamic exhaust valve, which is controlled by the driver's selection of Normal, Eco, and Sport modes, remains closed in the former two for quiet efficiency but opens in the latter to accentuate the vehicle's sporty rumble.
When put into "sport" mode, the dual-clutch transmission can instantly downshift as many as three gears for brisk acceleration. The Twist-Beam rear axle in the Ford Puma ST Powershift has a torsional stiffness of 2,000 Nm/deg, which is an increase of over 50% compared to a conventional Ford Puma.
Stability, agility, and prompt response to orders are made possible by the Force Vectoring springs, which have been granted a patent. The Ford Puma ST Powershift is more refined at high speeds, thanks to the combination of front and rear Hitachi twin tube shock absorbers, which improve body control. The front discs measure 325mm in diameter, which is 17% larger than the discs found on a conventional Puma.
"Ford's performance division drew on its vast reservoir of knowledge to ensure that the Puma ST has the characteristic ST driving feel without sacrificing the SUV's utility; the new Powershift version is even more adaptable. We utilize 48-volt mild-hybrid technology to raise power, peak torque, and efficiency."
Low emissions and fuel consumption can be achieved using an electrified powertrain in tandem with a small engine displacement, which provides excellent performance in everyday driving. This package, which includes a retuned Powershift transmission, provides the power, handling, and fun-to-drive dynamics expected of an ST. If you're looking for a powerful and efficient SUV, go no further than the Ford Puma ST Powershift.
