A prototype of the new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter recently completed a round-trip test drive from the Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart to the Munich Airport and returned without recharge. According to the manufacturer, this amounts to a distance of 475 kilometers with a power usage of 21.9 kWh per 100 kilometers.
"Despite the route being particularly demanding on fuel usage due to the high percentage of roads and the climb to the Swabian Jura, Overall, the Swabians found the new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter to be very remarkable.
There will be a variety of battery capacities available for the brand-new Mercedes eSprinter electric van. For this test, we chose the largest available pre-production model. "With a view to a suitable vehicle layout for CEP use (courier, express, and package service), an extra-long eSprinter with a high roof was selected to show that the new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter is trimmed for efficiency," says Mercedes.

Mercedes adds that a TÜV Süd inspector rode along for the whole test drive in the passenger seat. As a neutral testing authority, TÜV Süd confirmed that the test drive from Stuttgart to Munich and back, which showed that the vehicle used 21.9 kWh per 100 kilometers, was done on a single charge and that the electric vehicle was in good shape.
The new Mercedes-Benz eSprinter is more adaptable than the previous model because of its three battery options and various body configurations, such as a panel van and a chassis for box bodies. Mercedes hopes to attract a wider range of customers and expand into new areas by participating in this event; in addition to Europe, representatives from the United States and Canada will be attending for the first time. Depending on the settings, the range should more than double compared to the present eSprinter.
The new eSprinter electric van will be manufactured in the United States and Düsseldorf and Ludwigsfelde beginning in the second half of 2023.
From 2025, all medium-sized vans and large-sized vans should be fully electric based on the new modular architecture: Mercedes-Benz Vans Electric Architecture.
