Nissan has recently announced a major price cut for its flagship electric crossover, the Nissan Ariya. The 2024 model, which is now on sale, starts from $39,590, making it one of the market's most affordable and competitive electric SUVs.
The Ariya is Nissan’s first all-electric crossover and a key part of its electrification strategy. It offers a sleek design, a spacious interior, a range of advanced technologies, and a choice of two battery sizes and two drivetrain options.
What Makes the Nissan Ariya Stand Out?
The Nissan Ariya is a vehicle that combines innovation, performance, and style in a way that appeals to a wide range of customers. Here are some of the main reasons why the Ariya is a standout electric SUV:
- Price: The Nissan Ariya has a starting price of $39,590, which is significantly lower than many of its competitors, such as the Tesla Model Y ($41,990), the Ford Mustang Mach-E ($42,895), and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 ($44,995). The price reduction, which ranges from $3,600 to $6,000 depending on the trim level, is a result of Nissan’s efforts to improve the model’s competitiveness and deliver maximum value to its customers.
- Range: The Ariya offers two battery sizes: a 63-kWh standard range battery and an 87-kWh long range battery. The standard range battery, which is exclusive to the Ariya Engage trim, delivers an EPA-estimated range of 223 miles. The long range battery, which is available on all other trims, delivers an EPA-estimated range of up to 304 miles. This puts the Ariya ahead of many other electric SUVs, such as the Volkswagen ID.4 (250 miles), the Kia EV6 (239 miles), and the Audi Q4 e-tron (241 miles).
- Performance: The Ariya offers two drivetrain options: front-wheel drive and Nissan’s advanced, dual-motor e-4ORCE all-wheel drive. The front-wheel drive option, which is available on the Ariya Engage and Ariya Excite trims, produces 214 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. The e-4ORCE all-wheel drive option, which is available on the Ariya Excite, Ariya Explore, and Ariya Experience trims, produces 389 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. The e-4ORCE system enhances driver confidence and stability, delivering a smoother, more comfortable ride. It continually optimizes front and rear torque allocation and applies independent brake control at each of the four wheels to maximize the cornering force generated by each one. The e-4ORCE system also reduces vehicle pitch and dive by precisely controlling vehicle momentum and handling.
- Technology: The Ariya is packed with cutting-edge technology that makes driving easier, safer, and more enjoyable. Some of the highlights include:
- A 12.3-inch digital dashboard and a 12.3-inch touchscreen display that provide a seamless and intuitive user interface.
- A wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility that allows drivers to access their smartphone apps, music, and navigation on the go.
- A wireless charging pad and multiple USB ports keep devices powered and connected.
- A NissanConnect Services app that lets drivers remotely monitor and control their vehicle, such as checking the battery status, setting the climate control, locking and unlocking the doors, and finding the nearest charging station.
- A ProPILOT Assist 2.0 system that enables hands-off highway driving on select trim levels. The system uses a combination of cameras, radars, and sensors to monitor the road and the driver and can automatically steer, accelerate, and brake the vehicle within a single lane.
- A Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite that includes features such as automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and high beam assist. The Ariya also comes with 10 airbags, a rear door alert, and an intelligent forward collision warning.
- A head-up display that projects key information, such as speed, navigation, and alerts, onto the windshield, allowing drivers to keep their eyes on the road.
- A Bose Premium audio system that delivers a rich and immersive sound experience with 10 speakers, a subwoofer, and a soundbar.
